How long does it take to make a photography? Taking a photography? A year or a sixty-six second? Or can a photography take a half-shekel in time to do? What time is meant by time? The measurable exposure?
Today 1/4000th second or eight hours 1826. Time in relation to sensitivity to light? Or time in relation to loss? Is that maybe the same? The loss and sensitivity?
What time do we mean, when we talk about time in photography? And what does it mean to do? From experience to viewing, it can take many, many years. That's how it has been for me.
The pictures in the tower took several years. How often was I there alone? Together with the men? In the darkroom? In conversation with others where I told about the room and gave the pictures more titles, White walls, tender walls or The fifth man no longer exists. And the conversations within the memories of my brothers and fathers?
Will the meetings with the different men also count in time? How did we meet at a gas station in a small town in Småland, in a hospital corridor in connection with the exhibition, at a café in Halmstad that I regularly visited for a few years and at the ticket office at the county museum?
How did I interact with the men before they were in the tower and that in them I saw other men, memories and experiences of brothers and lost fathers? Time? Slow time?
Are not there three times? The measurable, the perceptible and the time surrounding us, which manifests itself through different events, focuses attention and language content. Time that is harder to see and which appears as a filter and that color and darken the assessment. Something we might see far later when we look back.
Imagine if there are photographs that take a lifetime before they can turn out to be visual impressions because they require life to emerge as images. Sometimes I have found myself in situations when images have been taken from them. Those pictures (it's visual images for me) have taught me, are not mine from the beginning. They are a result of the language and experience I was born into. Photographing has meant to rid myself of that language and find my own. I am speaking my own language now - I am being me.
What's happening is that the generating image places me in the camera's position outside the situation so much that I can photograph it and thus reformulate it.
Often it is about relationships with my mother and those who stand close to me in the way that I have never been able to formulate it for them other than later through the photographs I take. Photographs that make completely different experiences with those who see them.
Slow time? Quick time? Lifetime?

I mörkrummet?
Slow tid? Snabb tid? Livstid?
